I currently reside in Chicago, Illinois and I have spent the majority of my time either on one side of the bar creating ground breaking bar programs or on the other side instructing others how to do so.
After college at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, I moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan for a change of scenery. While living there I manned a lovely neighborhood cocktail bar called 327 Braun Court for a few years and was able to focus on what makes the guest return over and over. Yearning for a metropolitan atmosphere like my hometown of Dallas I decided a change was in order and moved West to see what the Windy City could offer. After a few more years and later nights of working my way up the bar ladder under the tutelage of Chicago's Benjamin Schiller at the well renowned Berkshire Room I accepted the beverage director position at my neighborhood bar: The Whistler, which has been named one of America's top cocktail bars time and time again by GQ, Esquire, The Chicagoist, Playboy and under my watch received the accolade of the 2016 Best Bar in Chicago from Time Out Magazine.
You will occasionally see me writing or posting recipes for the online men's magazine Valet.
My dream for ages had been to open a bar of my own but in my most successful last couple of years I realized my calling is to help build better programs for others and enjoy the comfy side of the bar as much as I can when I am pretending to be a civilian. So for now I have put that idea on the shelf next to the bottles I only talk about with company and I am here to help your business get to the next level.
